Paper pumpkin houses

Design a village of paper pumpkin houses with this printable craft!

This is a perfect project for Autumn, Harvest season, Thanksgiving and even Halloween. It can also be a great collaborative group craft, with each person designing a pumpkin house. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy making this one either—adults will love it too.

There’s so much you can make from pumpkins, right? Recently we shared pumpkin sponge painting. This craft incorporates the same shapes as a base but I’ve turned them into a super cute village of cozy pupkin homes instead.

The finished pumpkin village can be either free-standing or used as a wall decoration. The free-standing version doubles as a small world for imaginary play. Just add toys!

The template includes two pages of hand-drawn doors, windows and other house elements to decorate five assorted pumpkin shapes. 

Alternatively, get kids to draw their own windows and doors. I’ve left my design elements plain but they can be coloured in. It’s up to you!

How to make a paper pumpkin houses

You will need

  • Card stock in orange (I’ve used three shades of orange)
  • Card stock in white
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Green tissue paper, cut into small squares
  • The Pumpkin Village Template, available from our printables store and TPT store
 

 

How to

Print the templates out according to the instructions in the download.

Cut the pumpkins and design elements out.

Arrange some windows, doors and other elements onto a pumpkin. Optionally, colour them in. Then glue them on.

Crumple small squares of green tissue paper and glue to the stalk.

Repeat for the remaining pumpkins.
