Printing with apples is a great activity for preschoolers and kindergarteners because it’s easy to set up, quick to complete and the results look fantastic.

We’ve stuck to Autumn colours and used a printed tree as the backdrop. It’s free to download from our digital downloads library. You could switch this up and use shades of green and red for your apples too.

If your kids want to help with the apple chopping, these Montessori kids’ knives (affiliate link) are a safe way to let them do that.

Let’s get started …

How to make Apple Stamping Tree Art

You will need

  • Washable Paint in three colours of your choice
  • Paper Plates or Tray
  • Craft Sticks
  • Apples
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • The printable tree template – free to download when you subscribe to our email list via the form below

How to

Pour one blob of each colour of paint onto your tray, evenly spacing them out so there’s room for an apple plus paint spread on each one.

Cut your apples in half. We’ve done it horizontally to expose the ‘star’.

Push a popsicle stick into the outside of the cut apples for a handle.

It’s a good idea to start with the darkest colour first and stamp 3-4 apples in each colour to get even coverage.

But as with all process art, there are no set rules and kids can do it however they like.
