Print and make a set of Rainbow Bat Baskets for Halloween Treats.
This is an easy Halloween craft for all ages, adults included (why should kids get all the fun?).
The finished baskets make cute DIY gifts and party favours. This is also a fun Halloween-themed activity to make with a group, then fill with treats to take home.

Q: What’s the sweetest type of bat?
A: A rainbow bat basket stuffed full of treats!
If you’ve never heard of rainbow bats, that’s because they’re shy and only come out at night. This species is REAL, I promise you.

Rainbow bats are known for their sweet tooth—they looooove sugar.
Forget fruit, these guys want their tummies filled with candy of the yummiest kind.

They’re personalities are as sweet as their favourite food … MOST of the time anyway. If the rainbow bat’s tummy is empty they get hangry.
They might even fight over candy!

If you want a set of rainbow bats to hand out as favours at your Halloween party or to give as DIY gifts, they’re very easy to make.
The printable template comes in five colours as well as colour-your-own. Card stock is recommended to print on and will result in a sturdier basket, but if you have no card stock paper will also work.
I always score my fold lines first using a scoring tool (affiliate link). This is optional, but I recommend this step if you’re making lots of baskets because it makes them quicker and easier to fold. If you have no scoring tool at home you can use a blunt butter knife.
Let’s get started …
How to make a Rainbow Bat Basket
You will need:
- Crayons, markers or pencils if using the colour-your-own version
- A glue stick
- Scissors
- Card stock or paper
- Sweets (or risk a hangry set of bats!)
- Optional cutting mat, ruler and scoring tool
- The template, available from our printables store and TPT store
How to:
Print the template out to card stock.

If using the line art version, colour your bat.

*Optional step – score your fold lines by running your scoring tool or blunt butter knife over the fold lines to give them an indent.

Cut out the shapes.

Fold and glue the bat body into a basket shape.
Glue on the handle.
Glue on the wings.

Now your rainbow bat baskets are ready to fill with treats.

Aren’t they sweet?
