Decorate for Spring with a colourful Spinning Flower Decoration. Hang it somewhere it can catch the breeze and watch it twirl and whirl!
This easy paper craft is suitable for kids 7 and up. Younger kids could also make it with some adult help.

Q: What’s a more cheerful sight than flowers in Spring?
A: Kid-made flowers that spin in the wind!
I’m serious. There’s something magical about kid-made crafts. They have the power to cheer people up even more than a bunch of flowers. If you don’t believe me, try it with this craft and see.
Our template includes three stylised flowers to print, colour and make. String the flowers together into a hanging decoration with a bead for added weight on the end.

This works with the same twirling principle as our Spinning Egg Craft and Sun Spinner. It’s a STEM craft that kids will love.
If you wish, you could also use these flowers as a base for pattern art. Cardstock is recommended for this craft, but paper will also work.

How to make a Spinning Flower Decoration
You Will Need
- White card stock (or paper) – 3 sheets per decoration (one for each 3D flower)
- Markers – either kids’ washable markers or permanent markers
- String
- Scissors
- Sticky tape
- Wooden macrame bead approx 2cm (0.8”) in size
- Optional cutting mat, ruler and scoring tool (or blunt butter knife)
- The Flower Spinner Template, available from our printables store and TPT store
How To:
Print the flowers out.

Colour the flowers, or optionally colour and decorate with pattern art.

Cut the flower pages in half horizontally.

Fold along the fold lines. Optionally, score the fold line first by holding a ruler against the dotted line and creating an indent with a scoring tool. Scoring makes the folding easier and more accurate.

Cut the paper flowers out and fold each of them in half.

For each flower shape, glue the four folded paper flowers together.
Before gluing the final two panels together, sticky tape a piece of string to the centre.

Attach all three flowers to the string. Tie a loop in the top and add a bead to the bottom for weight.

Hang your flower decoration somewhere it can catch the breeze.

I’m feeling happier already!
