Card stock is recommended for printing. In addition to the templates, a heart-shaped hole punch (affiliate link) has been used to make mini hearts. If you don’t have one you can use heart sequins or draw mini hearts on.

Onto the lovebugs …

3D Love Butterfly

The Love Butterfly is a rare species seen mostly around mid-February. You can spot them by the heart-shaped wings, stacked heart body and little heart antennae.

When making your Love Butterfly, draw a smiley face or use a curled strip of paper to make a proboscis (or tongue). On a real butterfly, the proboscis acts like a straw, enabling them to drink nectar. For a realistic butterfly craft, check out our a 3D paper Monarch butterfly

Large 3D Love Bug

Here’s another unique species—the giant, bobble-heart antennaed, heart-nosed love bug. He may be big, but this bug is completely harmless.

He spends most of his time sniffing around for heart-shaped chocolates to nibble on.
