Make an adorable 3D Pattern Art Fox using this template. This is a fun, easy woodland animal craft for kids, teens and adults.
When I say ‘fox’, there’s a good chance you think bright orange fur and sneakiness. These creatures take being crafty to a whole new level, in a different way to me.
It’s a good thing they’re cute. In fact, their striking colours have made the perfect inspiration for our latest doodle art project.
In this 3D craft, the fox’s white fur accents have become a pattern art canvas. This enhances the natural contrast against the orange fur of her body. To add texture to the orange fur, I’ve used paint pen.
Optionally, you can create a nocturnal vibe to your artwork by using a dark blue ‘night sky’ background and adding stars.
I adore how this pair of foxes turned out!
This craft is suitable for kids aged 8 and up. Younger kids could make it with some adult help.

How to make a 3D Pattern Art Fox
You will need
- Card stock in white, orange and a colour of your choice for the background. For a night-time scene, use deep blue
- Thick black marker
- Black fine liner pens
- White paint pen
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- The Fox Pattern Art template, available in our printables store and TPT store
How To
Print the fox details and support strips on white card stock, and the body shape on orange.
Use a thick marker to divide the white sections into smaller shapes.
Use a fine liner to fill each smaller shape with a different pattern.
Cut the support strips out, then fold and glue them into squares. For folding accuracy, you can score the fold lines first using a ruler, cutting mat and scoring tool, but this step is not essential.
Fold and glue the head support strip into an irregular 3D shape.
Cut the fox body shape, tail and doodle art details out.
Glue the legs to the body shape with the paws overhanging the bottom edge. Glue the chest to the top of the body shape, overlapping the tops of the legs. Glue the tail tip to the tail, the face to the base of the head piece, and the ears to the back of the head.
Use white paint pen to add small dashed patterns to the orange parts on the fox’s head, tail and body to give it a furry texture.
Glue the tail onto a backing sheet of card stock. It should sit near the bottom and hang over the edge of the page.
On the back of the fox body, glue the five support squares.
Glue the body into place over the tail.
Glue the head support above the body.
Glue the head onto the support square with the fox’s chin overlapping the chest.
Optionally, use white paint pen to draw stars in the top third of the page, creating a nighttime background.
This little fox is off to make some mischief!
