Enhance the magic of storytelling with a set of hand-sewn Red Riding Hood felt dolls. We have Grandma, the Wolf and, of course, Miss Hood herself (whose true name is a mystery) to make.
This is a fun sewing project for older kids, or a DIY toy adults can make for younger kids. The PDF template for all three characters is free for subscribers to download.

When my kids were little enough, snuggling up at the end of each day for story time was a treasured part of our bedtime routine. My girls loved all books, including classic fairy tales.
I’m sure there is a moral to Little Red Riding Hood somewhere. Don’t give strangers personal information, maybe? Or never trust a ‘person’ with glittering white teeth and shaggy grey fur who’s pretending to be related to you?
If Little Red Riding Hood were a 21st-century girl, she’d run, scheme or fight her way out of trouble without having to rely on the rescue of a nearby woodcutter. In fact, this happens in some retellings, such as the hilarious modern classic, Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes (affiliate link).

Classic fairy tale characters may portray ideals and stereotypes from another era, but they remain an important part of our cultural heritage and are lots of fun to read. Don’t you agree?
These Red Riding Hood dolls are a little fiddly to make, but they’re so cute, it’s worth it! And when you have the mini versions to roleplay along with the story, kids can experiment with their own imaginative twists and endings.
What would you do if you were in Red Riding Hood’s matching little red boots?
