Chickens and their adorable, fluffy, offspring are favourite farm animals of kids around the world. Adults too (let’s face it, who can resist holding a cheeping, day-old chick in their hand?).

Don’t forget the lucky mother hen and how she tucks her little babies safely under her wings to keep them warm.

This easy Spring craft explores the geometric 2D shapes of triangles, ovals, circles and semi-circles and incorporates them into a lift-the-flap craft.

When the craft is complete, kids can lift mama’s wing to reveal a trio of baby chicks—just like in real life.

It’s also great fine motor practice using scissor skills along with folding and gluing simple shapes. It’s perfect for kids aged K-2. The finished craft makes a cute Spring-themed bulletin board idea or wall art for at home.
