Fathers Day Trophy card

Let kids award their dad a trophy for being the Number One Dad! This printable craft makes a cute DIY Father’s Day card idea.

The finished card features a slide-up ribbon with either a heart-shaped photo of the child or a colour-in “Happy Father’s Day” message.

If your Dad deserves a trophy for being such an awesome guy, this is the DIY card for you! He’s going to love the slide-up Father’s Day ribbon greeting or photo.

There’s space on the back to write a personalised message about why Dad deserves this award. Maybe he makes the world’s best pancakes, or cheers the loudest at sports matches … it’s up to you to decide!

This Father’s Day craft is recommended for ages 7 and up, although younger kids could make it with some adult help. It involves basic cutting, folding, gluing and handwriting skills. Card stock is recommended for sturdiness.

Here’s how to make it …

How to make a Father’s Day trophy card

You will need:

Card stock in yellow and white
Glue stick
Scissors
Coloured markers, pencils, crayons, etc.
Personalised head shot if making the photo version, printed to the approximate size of 60x60mm (2.3”x2.3”)

How To:

Print the trophy outline to yellow card stock and the glue-on elements to white card stock.

Colour the glue-on elements and fill in the name and section on why dad is number one. Cut these out.

For the photo version: there is an alternative elements page (not pictured) with a blank heart-shaped ribbon and heart-photo template. Cut the heart template out, place it over a 6x6cm printed photo and trace around it to get the correct shape. Cut this out and glue in place on the ribbon.

Cut the trophy shape out and fold in half. To cut the slit, it’s easiest to fold the cup in half without creasing, gently pinch where the line is and cut. Alternatively, for a cleaner slit, an adult can do this step using a craft knife, ruler and cutting mat.

Slide the ribbon through the slit with the coloured side facing the front (the side facing the printed page should be blank). Test it works, and then glue the trophy closed with the ribbon in place. Keep the centre square free of glue as marked on the template.

Glue the front elements onto the trophy cup. Directly above the ribbon slit, stick the inside cup shading. In the centre, stick the number #1 shape. Fold the “Awarded to you by” plaque along fold line and glue this around the base.
