Scrape painted flowers

There’s nothing quite so satisfying as scraping paint across a page just for fun! This is called process art.

With this activity, kids can scrape their paint as messy as they like, then allow it to dry. The flowers are made by tracing shape templates onto the dry art and pasting it together.

Because of the way the paint has been applied, we’re left with beautiful textural-looking flowers in a style reminiscent of illustrator Eric Carle.

The blooms are large, bright and pretty!

This craft is suitable for ages 6 and up, but younger kids could also make the flowers with some adult help.

What’s included in the Scrape Painted Flower Value Bundle?

There are several different scraping techniques used to create these flowers. The straight scrape, the circular scrape and the starburst scrape.

Each of the flowers included in the bundle is available separately and has its own tutorial with more detailed instructions.
